Abstract Background

Spanish classes for children 2-5 in Edinburgh

Give your children the gift of language learning

At Get Talking Spanish we offer fun and interactive play-based Spanish sessions for children 2-5 on Saturday mornings in different areas of Edinburgh - currently Stockbridge and Portobello

The sessions include songs, interactive games and activities and story telling in Spanish. They are aimed at children aged 2-5 but if your little one is slightly older or younger you are still welcome to join us.

They last for 45 minutes, with an extra 15 minutes at the end of the session for children to play and parents/carers to socialise over a cup of tea of coffee - provided.

All our sessions are delivered by qualified native Spanish teachers with several years of international experience and full PVG, who select and design all the materials and activities to ensure they are stimulating, dynamic and age-appropriate, and that all input is made comprehensible so that children actually understand what is being said instead of just repeating words.

Please note that children must always be accompanied by a parent/carer during the sessions.

Why our classes

About our teachers

Meet Eugenia

Hola! I'm Eugenia, Get Talking Spanish's founder and Spanish teacher.

I am a qualified Primary Teacher with full GTCS registration and nearly a decade of experience teaching languages to both children and adults. I also hold a full PVG.

Before deciding to start my own venture at Get Talking Spanish, I worked as an Early Years Teacher in one of the best nurseries in Edinburgh for three and a half years. I have also taught children in Hong Kong and Spain as well as online.

I believe one of the most important subjects we should encourage our children to learn are languages, and as a mum of a bilingual child myself, I love to help other kids learn too.

Being able to speak more than one language has been, without a doubt, what has opened the most doors for me both personally and professionally throughout my life, and I wouldn't change it for anything.

I currently look after our Portobello classes for children, teach Spanish in nurseries, and also offer 1:1 Spanish lessons for children and adults in Edinburgh northeast and online.

Meet Cristina

Hola! My name is Cristina and I was born in Santander - North Spain - but I have been living and working in Edinburgh for six years.

I hold a double Bachelor's Degree in Early Years and Primary Teaching and I have more than seven years of experience working with children of different ages. I also hold a full PVG.

My favourite thing about working with children is the feeling of being constantly surrounded by love and smiley faces that literally make my day!

I love travelling and discovering new cities and countries, and this is probably why I believe speaking foreign languages is so important. I also enjoy listening to music, watching Netflix, and having a healthy lifestyle - walking lots and going to the gym when I'm free.

I currently look after our Stockbridge classes for children and also offer 1:1 lessons for children in Stockbridge and New Town.

Meet Laura

Originally from sunny Gran Canaria, Laura has been living in Scotland for over three years now.

Laura knew she wanted to become a teacher since she was child, as she absolutely loves working with children and watching them learn and develop.

Laura holds a BA in Early Years Education and a Masters in Psychopedagogy. She is also a qualified Montessori assistant and has over six years of international teaching experience. Laura has taught children in Spain, Morocco, Chile and the UK.

Laura loves travelling and getting to know different cultures, that's why she believes that giving children the opportunity to speak another language opens the doors to a bigger world and to fulfilling many dreams.

Laura currently covers both our Stockbridge and Portobello group classes when needed.

Highly recommend Cristina as a Spanish teacher for young learners! My four-year-old daughter absolutely loves her one on one lessons and Spanish Play Groups. Cristina's engaging teaching style and patience make learning fun and effective.

My daughter has shown remarkable progress in her language skills.

Grateful for her dedication and passion for teaching.

¡Gracias, Cristina!

Beata Z

Spanish for Children 2-5

My daughter attends classes with Eugenia and we love it. Eugenia puts a lot of effort into the activities for children. This is by far the best Spanish class for children we attended in Edinburgh.

Louise M

Spanish for Children 2-5

The Spanish classes are so much fun. My 3 year old has grown in confidence speaking in Spanish in such a short time. Fun songs, activities and stories all appropriate for their age. Parents get to enjoy a coffee and get to learn along with the children. We love a Saturday morning!

What our classes look like

We carefully design and select the highest quality materials and resources to ensure activities are fun, engaging and adapted to each child's age.
